Opportunity:
RN - Psychiatric
Job Details:
* 48 hours guaranteed per week
* Three 12-hour shifts required each day, seven days a week including weekends
* Days off are not guaranteed unless specified in contract
* No on-call requirements
* Work across multiple units including ADOL (adolescent patients ages 12-18), Serenity (lower acuity adult unit), ITU (higher acuity adult unit with thought disorder diagnoses), SRAD (senior lifestyle patients), and VINE (lower acuity adult unit)
* Patient ratios: 8 to 1 for nurses, 12 to 1 for MHTs
* Floating policy based on greatest need across units
* Documentation system: Meditech
* Nurses are required to wear blue scrubs
* Active Blue Card CPI required at time of submission
* Required certifications: BLS and CPI
* Assess patients' mental health status including recognizing signs of psychiatric disorders, substance use, and behavioral problems
* Develop individualized care plans based on patient needs including setting goals, implementing interventions, and evaluating outcomes
* Administer psychiatric medications and monitor for side effects or adverse reactions with knowledge of psychotropic medications
* Provide crisis intervention and immediate short-term support to patients in crisis including de-escalation techniques and appropriate medication management
* Utilize therapeutic communication skills including active listening and empathy to build trust and rapport with patients
* Monitor patients for physical and psychological symptoms including vital signs, mental status changes, and medication effects
* Follow ICARE values (integrity, compassion, always, respect) and AIDET communication behaviors
