Opportunity:
RN - VMU (Visual Monitor Unit)
Job Details:
* 12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
* 4 total weekend shifts per 4 weeks, with every 3rd weekend required
* Holidays worked in permanent staff rotation based on unit coverage
* 1:4 patient ratios
* 14-bed Visual Monitor Unit (VMU) specializing in MedSurg/Telemetry with a behavioral health component
* Patients include those with secondary psychiatric diagnoses, dementia, confusion, and low cognitive ability
* Average length of stay is 4 days
* Floating may be required to ED psych holds and possibly MedSurg floors
* Charting system: Cerner
* Required certifications: ACLS and BLS
* MedSurg/Telemetry experience required; psychiatric experience preferred but not required
* Must pass dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance (2 attempts allowed)
* Day 1 SIMs Lab is pass/fail and includes Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes
* Must maintain sterile field competency for SIMs Lab
* 2-shift floor-specific orientation provided
* Scrub color: Navy; panic buttons required
* No ventilator experience required
* Telemetry experience required
* Natural hair color required; no facial piercings permitted
* Men must be clean-shaven for fit test
* Must have own vehicle
* Level 1 Trauma experience required (Level 2 Trauma will be considered)
* Minimum 18 months of experience required; first-time travelers welcome
* Must reside outside a 50-mile radius (driver's license used as source of truth)

This acute care facility is a Level 1 Trauma center offering a comprehensive range of medical services including a specialized Visual Monitor Unit that combines MedSurg/Telemetry care with behavioral health support. The unit is staffed with behavioral health technicians and 24/7 security video monitoring to ensure patient and staff safety. The facility provides robust support services including a SWAT RN IV team, 24/7 respiratory therapy, and 24/7 pharmacy, along with a dedicated psychiatric MD on the unit.
