Opportunity:
RN - Labor & Delivery (Break Nurse)
Job Details:
* Position is designated as a Break Nurse role working 4 x 12-hour shifts for a total of 48 hours per week
* Overtime will not be billed until after 48 hours worked in a week
* Shift times: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM (days) and 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM (nights)
* Weekend rotation required every other weekend, but may be variable based on need
* No mandatory on-call requirements
* Holiday expectations apply on a fair and equitable basis
* Schedule is made in 6-week increments and released 2 weeks prior to the start of the schedule; block schedule cannot be guaranteed
* Floating may be required to antepartum (within L&D) and postpartum (4th floor) occasionally, as well as additional assignments within scope and experience
* Provide care for high acuity patients including hypertension, magnesium administration, C-sections, preterm labor, insulin drips, vaginal deliveries, epidurals, inductions, antepartum, PROM, multiple births, and postpartum hemorrhage
* Transition and recover post vaginal birth and C-section patients (mom and baby)
* Maintain patient ratios per AWHONN guidelines: 1:1 active labor, 1:2 non-active laboring, 1:2-3 antepartum dependent on acuity
* Up to 300 deliveries per month
* Minimum 2 years of experience required; 5+ years preferred; first-time travelers considered upon review
* Required certifications: BLS, NRP, Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring (AWHONN)
* EPIC EMR experience required
* Required skills include labor management and delivery of high-risk OB patients, OB patient triage, OR circulation, cervical checks, and reading/interpreting fetal monitoring strips
* Equipment used includes Alaris CareFusion IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, Centricity/Qx fetal surveillance monitors, CAD Solaris epidural pumps, Panda Warmers, and Covidien SCDs
Facility:
This facility is a Level II Trauma Center and Level IV NICU with 34 Labor & Delivery beds including 15 labor rooms, 12 antepartum beds, 4 OB ED rooms, and 3 ORs, along with 18 postpartum beds. The unit is supported by CNAs, Scrub Techs, a Receptionist/HUC, a free-floating Charge Nurse, Phlebotomy services, Respiratory Therapy available 24/7, and a Laborist available around the clock. The facility maintains a robust support structure including residents, fellows, physicians, and midwives to ensure comprehensive patient care.
