Opportunity:
Speech Language Pathologist (SLP)
Job Details:
* Work 5 eight-hour shifts per shift cycle from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
* Block schedule accommodation to be determined based on unit requirements
* Every 5th weekend rotation required, covering both Saturday and Sunday
* On-call requirements to be determined based on unit requirements
* Guaranteed contracted hours
* Split time between inpatient rehab and acute care units
* Majority of acute care work is focused on dysphagia and swallowing assessments and treatment
* Bedside swallow examination experience required
* Modified barium swallow study (MBS) experience preferred but not required
* Video fluoroscopy swallow evaluation experience preferred
* Acute care experience highly preferred
* Treat patients across all areas of the hospital including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
* Work with patient diagnoses including dysphagia, communication disorders, cognitive impairments, TBI, stroke, COPD, CHF, pneumonia, tracheotomies, and cardiac conditions
* Perform and interpret modified barium swallow studies (MBSS) and FEES procedures where applicable
* Use of special equipment including fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallow (FEES) if trained and speaking valves
* Document using Epic charting system
* Scrub color per facility profile
* Free parking available in the North Lot in any unrestricted space
* Minimum 1 year of experience required; first-time travelers accepted
* Active Minnesota state license required; pending license not accepted
* Required certifications: BLS, CCC-SLP
* Candidates must not reside within 25 miles of the facility
* No RTO permitted within the first week of the start date; no more than 10 days of RTO per assignment
* Finalized RTO must be included with submission
Facility:
This is a large acute care hospital with 479 staffed beds and a daily census of approximately 50 patients in the speech-language pathology department. The facility holds Magnet status and serves as both a teaching hospital and Level II Trauma Center. Interdisciplinary support is robust, including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and more, ensuring a collaborative and well-resourced environment for patient care.
