Opportunity:

RN - NICU

Job Details:

* 13 or 18 week contract available
* 3x12 hour shifts with variable days/nights or straight nights
* Schedule is published at the beginning of each month; shift rotation (days/nights) may change with each new schedule flexibility is required
* Must be available to work weekends with full flexibility to be scheduled when needed (no specific weekend requirement)
* Must work 2 out of the following 3 holidays (including Eves): Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's
* Maximum of 6 days of RTO per contract
* Hours are guaranteed after the call off policy has been met
* No on-call required
* Patient ratios: 1-2 patients (days, nights, and weekends)
* Travelers will not be assigned patients over 2 years old
* Patient age groups: Neonates, Infants, and Pediatrics
* High acuity surgical NICU with gestational age range of 22 weeks to term
* Common diagnoses include: HIE/Cooling, CDH, NEC, and respiratory distress/failure
* Typical surgeries include: gastroschisis, omphaloceles, abdominal surgeries, myelomeningoceles, fresh trachs, and G-tubes
* Must be comfortable with pre and post-op care, line changes with multiple drips, and ongoing management of trachs and G-tubes
* Required skills include: central line/implanted line care, IV vasopressors, ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP), starting and maintaining IVs, and attending high-risk deliveries
* Special equipment used includes: central lines, drips, vents, video EEG, NIRS, incubators, oscillators, conventional ventilators, CPAP, nasal cannula specialty gases, PICC lines, Broviacs, UAC/UVC/PAL lines, and warmers
* Must be willing to float to PICU, CTICU, and Med Surg within scope of practice
* Must be willing to float to NICU satellite campuses (Rancho Springs, Palomar, Scripps Encinitas, Scripps La Jolla, and Scripps Mercy) mileage reimbursed from home base NICU location
* Must have own transportation
* Charting system: Epic
* Scrub color: Any color
* Free traveler parking available
* 36 orientation hours required
* 2 years of NICU Level 4 experience required; strong Level 3 surgical NICU experience may be considered
* Will consider strong first-time travelers with Level 4 experience
* Cardiac experience required
* California nursing license required (pending license accepted if ETA is provided)
* Required certifications: BLS, Advanced NRP; PALS preferred
