Opportunity:

Surgical Technician

Job Details:

* Variable shift schedule
* Assist the surgical team in the preparation of surgical procedures in the operating room
* Prepare surgical cases by creating and maintaining a sterile field
* Retract and pass instruments, supplies, and medications to surgeons during cases
* Perform a variety of technical skills including the maintenance of supplies
* Accurately check required supplies and equipment prior to each surgical case
* Assemble appropriate supplies and equipment prior to operative procedures
* Review equipment inventory for assigned specialty
* Set up operative instrumentation and sterile field for expedient retrieval and utilization
* Complete instrument, sponge, needle, and blade counts with the Registered Nurse according to established standards
* Set up and maintain a neat and orderly sterile field with careful attention to aseptic technique
* Label solutions according to established standards
* Clean equipment and facilities as necessary
* Transport patients according to unit schedules and priorities
* Minimum 2 years of recent experience in the field required
* High School Diploma/GED required; Associate's/Technical Degree preferred
* Certified Surgery Technician (CST) certification or Tech in Surgery TS-C (NCCT) certification required
* National Board of Surgical Technologists or Association of Surgical Technologists certification required
* Current BLS or CPR certification from an approved vendor required
* Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification preferred
* Scrub technician experience preferred
* Operating room experience and/or training course preferred
