Opportunity:
Surgical First Assistant
Job Details:
* Day shift position working 36-48 hours per week
* Must have EPIC experience
* Provide assistance to the primary surgeon during surgical procedures including exposure, hemostasis, tying or sewing
* Prepare and position patients for surgery and assist in visualization of the operating field
* Harvest surgical grafts, perform closure of incisions, and apply various wound dressings
* Perform pre- and postoperative activities to facilitate optimal patient care
* Verify availability of surgical equipment and supplies and reserve equipment and implants according to surgeon preferences
* Prepare and maintain operating room environment including temperature, humidity, lights, suction, and furniture
* Obtain and review diagnostic studies to identify results
* Perform surgical hand scrub, gowning, and gloving
* Coordinate and participate in draping of patient
* Verify operative consent and other pertinent information including history, physical, advanced directives, and laboratory results
* Review patient medical chart and associated documentation
* Minimum of two years recent experience in field required
* High School Education/GED required; Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent preferred
* Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) certification required
* Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor required
* Current nursing license per state of assignment required
