RN - Labor & Delivery

Job Details:

* Shifts available: 48 hours per week preferred, 36 hours per week also considered
* Shift times: 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM (days) or 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM (nights)
* Night shift only for Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM): 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
* Schedule made in 6-week increments and released 2 weeks prior to start
* Block schedule cannot be guaranteed; will be utilized to fill in gaps in schedule
* Every other weekend rotation required, may vary based on unit need
* No mandatory on-call requirements
* Holiday rotation: fair and equitable assignment
* Scrubs provided by facility; scrubs are not to be worn outside of the facility
* Free parking available with badge access in designated areas
* Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required; 5+ years preferred
* Previous travel experience preferred for those with 2 years of experience
* First-time travelers considered upon review for RN role
* ANM candidates must have solid charge nurse experience and minimum 3 years of nursing experience
* Required certifications: BLS, NRP, Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring (AWHONN)
* EPIC EMR experience required
* High acuity experience required including: labor management and delivery of high-risk OB patients, OB triage, OR circulation, cervical checks, and fetal monitoring strip interpretation
* Must be able to serve as second set of hands to receive and recover normal newborns as needed
* ANM must have charge nurse experience, strong interpersonal skills, ability to manage OB ED patients, staff rounding, conflict resolution, and willingness to educate staff
* Patient types include: hypertension, magnesium administration, C-sections (~33% C-section rate), preterm labor, insulin drips, vaginal deliveries, epidurals, inductions, antepartum, PROM, multiple births, and postpartum hemorrhage
* Patient ratios follow AWHONN guidelines: 1:1 active labor, 1:2 non-active labor, 1:2-3 antepartum dependent on acuity
* Equipment includes: Alaris CareFusion IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, Centricity/Qx fetal surveillance monitors, CAD Solaris epidural pumps, Panda Warmers, and Covidien SCDs
* Floating may occur within antepartum and postpartum areas; no floating required for ANM

Facility:

This facility features a robust Labor & Delivery unit with 34 beds, including 15 labor rooms, 12 antepartum beds, 4 OB ED beds, and 3 operating rooms, along with an 18-bed postpartum unit. The unit supports up to 300 deliveries per month and maintains 24/7 laborist coverage, respiratory therapy, and anesthesia support. A strong multidisciplinary team including CNA support, scrub technicians, charge nurses, phlebotomy, and break nurses ensures comprehensive patient care across all shifts.
