Opportunity:
RN - Labor & Delivery (Break Nurse)
Job Details:
* This position is designated as a Break Nurse role
* Work 4 x 12-hour shifts for a total of 48 hours per week
* Overtime will not be billed until after 48 hours worked in a week
* Shift times: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM (days) or 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM (nights)
* CAP positions will switch from days to nights during the last 4 weeks
* Every other weekend rotation required, variable based on need
* No mandatory on-call requirements
* Schedule is made in 6-week increments and released 2 weeks prior to start
* Block schedule cannot be guaranteed; will be utilized to fill gaps in schedule
* High acuity experience required including labor management and delivery of high-risk OB patients
* Must be able to triage OB patients, circulate in OR, perform cervical checks, and read/interpret fetal monitoring strips
* Ability to serve as second set of hands to receive and recover normal newborns as needed
* Experience with hypertension, magnesium administration, C-sections, preterm labor, vaginal deliveries, epidurals, inductions, antepartum, PROM, multiple births, and postpartum hemorrhage required
* Patient ratios follow AWHONN guidelines: 1:1 active labor, 1:2 non-active laboring, 1:2-3 antepartum dependent on acuity
* Minimum 2 years of experience required with previous travel experience; 5+ years preferred
* EPIC EMR experience is required
* Equipment used includes Alaris CareFusion IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, Centricity/Qx fetal surveillance monitors, CAD Solaris epidural pumps, Panda Warmers, and Covidien SCDs
* May float to antepartum (within L&D) and postpartum (4th floor) occasionally, and additional assignments within scope and experience
* Scrubs are provided by the facility and are not to be worn outside of the facility
* Free badge access parking available in designated areas
* Required certifications: BLS, NRP, Intermediate FHM (AWHONN)
Facility:
This facility is a Level II Trauma Center and Level IV NICU, featuring 34 labor and delivery beds including 15 labor rooms, 12 antepartum beds, 4 OB ED rooms, and 3 operating rooms, as well as 18 postpartum beds. The unit supports up to 300 deliveries per month and maintains a high-acuity patient population. Comprehensive support services are available including CNA assistance, scrub technicians, phlebotomy, respiratory therapy (24/7), laborist coverage (24/7), and anesthesia services.
