Job Details:
* 3x12-hour night shifts
* Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
* Travel experience preferred
* Charting system: Epic (required)
* Required certifications: NIHSS, BLS
* Patient ratio of 1:6
* Half of contract weekends required
* Care for adult and geriatric patients ranging from young adults through geriatric population
* Provide medical-surgical level monitoring, interventions, and care for patients with neurological and neurosurgical diagnoses
* Utilize continuous telemetry and pulse oximetry monitoring
* Required skills include: Blood Product Administration, CVA (Cerebrovascular Accident) care, Interpretation and Management of Dysrhythmias, IV Insulin Protocols, Heparin Administration, PCA, PICC Line Management, Peripheral Line Care, Telemetry Unit Monitoring, Pre/Post Neurosurgery Care, Traumatic Brain Injury care, Spinal Cord Injury care, Feeding Tube Care and Management, Continuous Bladder Irrigation, Colostomy/Ileostomy Management, Chest Tube Management, Substance Withdrawal, Mood Disorders, Starting and Maintaining IVs, Isolation Precautions/PPE, Oxygen Administration, and Use of Rapid Response/Code Teams
* Interdisciplinary support available including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Phlebotomy, Radiology, Social Services, Rapid Response Teams, Pharmacy, and more
Facility:
This facility is a medical-surgical unit specializing in neurological and stroke-related care, featuring 19 private rooms with a daily census of up to 20 patients. The unit is equipped with continuous telemetry and pulse oximetry monitoring to support early recognition of changes in patient condition. The interdisciplinary team is committed to providing evidence-based, patient-centered care focused on neurological assessment, stroke recovery, secondary stroke prevention, and optimizing functional outcomes.
