Opportunity:

Medical Surgical / Registered Nurse

Job Details:

* 4x12 night shifts (48-hour weeks)
* On-call required as needed
* Weekend coverage required as needed
* Weekend block schedule may be considered - must be discussed during interview
* Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg experience required (strictly enforced)
* Level I Trauma experience required
* Large hospital experience required
* Prior travel experience required
* First-time travelers not accepted unless they have 5+ years of experience in the specialty
* Must live at least 100 miles from the facility (strictly enforced)
* Patient ratio is 1:6/7 utilizing a team nursing model (RN, LPN, and Med Nurse splitting a 1:12 caseload)
* Patient population includes adults and geriatrics, primarily surgical oncology with medical oncology and med/surg overflow
* 45-bed unit with a daily census of 30-35 patients
* Experience with central lines (PICC, PAC, and midlines), wound care, drains, ostomies, Foleys, and PCA pumps required
* Chemotherapy administration experience required for ONS-certified nurses only
* Skills required: IV start, conscious sedation, and chemotherapy administration (ONS only)
* Required certifications: BLS, NIHSS
* EPIC experience preferred
* Must be willing to work 2 of 3 end-of-year holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's) if all three fall within the assignment; at least 1 of 2 holidays if only 2 fall within the assignment
* May be floated between like units or campuses within a 20-mile radius
* All requested time off must be submitted at time of submission; RTO submitted after an offer will not be honored

This facility is a short-term acute care Level I Trauma Center offering a high-acuity patient environment with comprehensive interdisciplinary support. The unit provides care for a complex patient population including surgical oncology, medical oncology, and medical-surgical overflow patients. The facility offers robust support services including physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, rapid response teams, lift teams, and more, ensuring a well-rounded and collaborative care environment.
