Opportunity:
Pharmacist - Inpatient
Job Details:
* 13-week contract with ASAP start date
* Block scheduling: Wednesday through Tuesday, 7 days on, 7 days off
* Weekday shifts: 7:30 PM to 5:30 AM
* Weekend shifts: 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM, every other weekend
* Weekends required
* Minimum 1 year of experience required
* Missouri state pharmacy license required (pending license accepted if in process)
* BLS certification preferred
* PharmD or RPh required
* Charting system experience required; Meditech experience required
* Community hospital experience preferred
* Trauma Level II experience preferred
* No pharmacy technician coverage overnight; pharmacist is the only staff member in inpatient pharmacy during shift hours
* Pharmacists are not expected to attend code blues or rapid responses
* In addition to order verification, night shift pharmacist will work from a PharmacyOneSource queue to address clinical alerts including pharmacokinetic and renal dosing
* Required skills include anticoagulation therapy, clinical dosing, geriatric dosing, high-alert medications, pediatric dosing, pharmacokinetic dosing, renal dosing, therapeutic medication monitoring, and warfarin dosing
* Required skills include IV preparation including antibiotics, compounding, IV piggyback, and sterile technique
* Required skills include medication dispensing systems including Pyxis and unit dose storage
* Required pharmacotherapy management for cardiovascular, endocrine, infectious disease, pulmonary, and renal conditions
* Preferred skills include cardiac dosing and drug shortage management
* Patient age groups include neonates, infants, adolescents, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics
* Locals within a 60-mile radius are not accepted
* Keep requested time off to a minimum; any approved time off must be noted in the assignment confirmation document
* Expect to work some holidays
Facility:
This inpatient facility operates a 114-bed hospital with a daily census of approximately 60 patients. The facility provides comprehensive interdisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, rapid response teams, phlebotomy, social services, and interpretation services. The inpatient pharmacy operates overnight with a single pharmacist managing order verification and clinical alert queues, supporting a diverse patient population across all age groups.
