Job Details:
* 3x12 rotating shifts, working both day and night shifts: 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
* Various days of the week including weekends per unit needs
* 12 weekend shifts required per contract
* No on-call required
* Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:3 or 1:4 on days and nights; ratios may flex up based on staffing and unit needs - candidates must be comfortable with and have prior experience in flexible staffing ratio environments
* Minimum 2 years of experience required
* First-time travelers accepted if experience requirements are met
* Floating required within scope to meet facility needs and may float to sister facilities based on facility needs
* Charting system: Epic (experience required)
* Trauma Level I experience preferred
* Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, Colorado RN license or Compact RN license
* 36-bed fast-paced, high acuity Medical PCU unit with diverse patient populations
* Patient diagnoses include DKA, ETOH withdrawal, end of life/palliative, cardiac arrhythmias, sepsis, respiratory failure, urgent dialysis, pulmonary hypertension, cardiothoracic surgery, and hyponatremia
* Special procedures include scopes, biopsies requiring moderate sedation, cardioversion, and urgent dialysis (completed by dialysis RN)
* Drips include insulin, diltiazem, amiodarone, nicardipine, heparin, Lasix, and dobutamine
* Special equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP/AVAPS, heated high-flow, pumps to administer IV and subcutaneous prostacyclins, and temporary pacemakers
* Required skills include arterial line management, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, central line care and management, chest tube management, heparin protocols, high flow nasal cannula, interpretation of arterial blood gases, telemetry monitoring, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, titration of insulin drips, tracheostomy care, procedural sedation administration and monitoring, wound care, and wound vac management
* Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy
* Self-scheduling
* 32 orientation hours
