Opportunity:

Medical Technologist

Job Details:

* Day shift schedule: 7 days on, 7 days off (Thursday 5:00 AM through the following Wednesday at 5:30 PM)
* Minimal call time required with potential for on-call responsibilities
* Shares weekend and daily on-call hours with other staff technologists
* Certification/Registration with ASCP, NCA, NEW, or equivalent registry required
* Phlebotomy experience required
* Must have excellent verbal and written skills in English
* Computer skills required to communicate with medical and technical personnel
* Bilingual skills a plus
* Perform EKGs, phlebotomies, therapeutic phlebotomies, arterial and capillary collections for specimen procurement
* Coordinate testing procedures and clinical data with medical staff for the Laboratory Department
* Integrate current scientific knowledge with technical competency in laboratory operations
* Clarify physician orders and answer questions about orders, specimens, and results
* Maintain standards in routine, timed, and STAT testing with ability to set priorities
* Prepare and monitor quality control charts, instrument function checks, and maintenance protocols
* Demonstrate competency in patient safety and reduction of medical/healthcare errors
* Assist in orientation and training of new employees
* Maintain a clean and safe working environment
* Correlate results with diagnosis and question all incompatible results
* Ensure preventive maintenance is properly documented
* Demonstrate broad knowledge of all laboratory departments
