Opportunity:
RN - MedSurg
Job Details:
* Work 12-hour day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
* Every other weekend requirement
* No holiday requirement
* No on-call or standby requirement
* Float pool position rotating between Med/Onc, 2 surgical units, and 2 medical units
* Floating required to any Med/Surg pod based on staffing needs
* Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6
* Total care model with no PCAs
* No telemetry required, only occasional strip reading with remote tele monitoring available
* Common patient diagnoses include surgical services such as colorectal, hepatobiliary, bariatric, general, and orthopedic; medical conditions include diabetes, heart disease, COPD, kidney, and GI conditions
* Charge nurse present on each shift and takes an assignment
* Nurse aides and patient care techs available with varying ratios
* Respiratory therapy readily available to assist; RNs are not required to manage RT equipment in Med/Surg
* No drip titration required
* Staff assigned to need areas; no self-scheduling
* 3 shifts of unit/department-specific orientation provided
* Charting system is Cerner, transitioning to EPIC in November 2026
* Required certification: BLS (AHA)
* BSN not required
* Basic medical/surgical experience required; large hospital experience required
* No first-time travelers accepted
* Navy scrubs required; scrubs not provided
* Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment or 3 shifts for assignments less than 13 weeks

This Level 2 Trauma acute care facility operates a large 128-bed Med/Surg department across multiple specialized units, including medical, oncology, and surgical floors. The facility provides a full range of surgical and medical services and maintains a strong support structure with charge nurses, patient care techs, and readily available respiratory therapy. The organization is actively investing in updated technology and transitioning to a new electronic health records system to further support quality patient care.
