Speech Language Pathologist (SLP)

Job Details:

* Work 5 eight-hour shifts per shift cycle from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
* Block schedule availability to be determined based on unit requirements
* Every 5th weekend rotation required, covering both Saturday and Sunday
* On-call requirements to be determined based on unit requirements
* Guaranteed contracted hours
* Split time between inpatient rehab and acute care units
* Majority of acute care work focuses on dysphagia and swallowing assessments
* Bedside swallow examination experience required
* Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) experience preferred but not required a different therapist can perform MBS if needed following bedside swallow evaluation
* Acute care experience highly preferred
* Video fluoroscopy swallow evaluation experience preferred
* Treat patients across all areas of the hospital
* Patient population includes adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
* Patient diagnoses include dysphagia, communication disorders, cognitive impairments from traumatic brain injury, stroke, trauma, COPD, CHF, pneumonia, surgical procedures, neoplasms, cardiac conditions, and tracheotomies/speaking valves
* Special procedures include Modified Barium Swallow Studies (MBSS) and FEES
* Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallow (FEES) equipment available for trained clinicians
* Experience with speaking valves required
* Charting system: Epic (experience preferred)
* Required certifications: BLS, CCC-SLP
* Active Minnesota State License required; pending license not accepted
* Minimum 1 year of experience required; first-time travelers accepted
* Candidates must not reside within 25 miles of the facility
* No RTO permitted within the first week of the start date
* Maximum of 10 days RTO per assignment; all RTO must be finalized and included at time of submission
* Travelers are required to work holidays as needed
* Parking available in North Lot; free in any unrestricted space

Facility:

This is a large acute care hospital with 479 staffed beds and a daily census of approximately 50 patients in this specialty area. The facility holds Magnet status and operates as both a teaching institution and a Level II Trauma Center, reflecting its commitment to high-quality patient care and clinical excellence. Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretaries.
