Job Details:

* 13-week assignment with night shifts scheduled 4x12 hours
* Guaranteed 60 hours per 2-week period with the possibility of being called off for one 12-hour shift per 2-week period
* Weekend coverage may be more frequent than every other weekend and is subject to staffing needs
* Float required to lower acuity units, renal care, neuro, and med-surg as needed
* No on-call required
* Bedside RN patient ratio of 1:4; operates within a Co-Care/Virtual Nursing Model with 1 bedside RN, 1 Virtual RN, and 1 CNA per patient
* CNA patient ratio of 1:6
* Virtual nurse works remotely and assists with admissions, discharges, rounding, education, plans of care, and safety rounds
* Care for a wide variety of patient populations including cardiac (30%), respiratory, neuro, renal, and complex medical-surgical patients
* Cardiac patients include CHF, MI, post-TAVR, MVR, pacemaker, cardiac arrhythmia, drug load, Angiovac, and ACS patients
* Respiratory patients include COPD, asthma exacerbations, trach patients (>24 hours since placement), chronic home ventilators, high flow nasal cannula, and BiPAP
* Additional patient populations include overflow neuro, renal, and complicated medical-surgical patients requiring higher-level monitoring (ETOH WD, GIB, etc.)
* Scrubs provided by facility
* Charting system: Epic experience required
* Parking is free
* Philips Monitors in each room, Massimo Capnography, and Safe Patient Handling Equipment available
* Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
* Minimum 1 year of experience required
* First-time travelers accepted
* Alaska RN license must be in hand prior to auto offer; candidates with pending license must complete the AK RN license application within 48 hours of signing
* Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
* Block scheduling is not available
* All requested time off must be submitted at time of submittal

This acute care hospital is a Magnet-designated facility and a Level II Trauma Center recognized as a top hospital in Alaska by U.S. News & World Report. With 407 total staffed beds, the facility offers a comprehensive range of specialty services and interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, lift teams, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretary services. The PCU is a stepdown unit from the ICU, serving a daily census of 36 patients across multiple disciplines.
