Job Details:
* Variable shift schedule with four 9-hour day shifts scheduled between Monday through Friday
* Start times depend on daily assignment based on role within the unit
* Pre-op RN shifts run from 6:30 AM to 4:00 PM or 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM with 2 RNs in pre-op per day
* PACU RN shifts run from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM or 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM with 3 RNs in PACU per day
* Procedure RN shifts run from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM with 2 to 4 RNs per day depending on the day
* One overnight call shift per week required - call begins at the end of your 9-hour shift until 7:00 AM, or at 5:00 PM on non-working call days
* Two weekend call shifts required during a 6-week period from 7:00 AM to 7:00 AM, which may include two Saturdays, two Sundays, or a Saturday and Sunday
* Call requirements will not exceed 2 weekend call shifts and 6 weeknight shifts per 6-week scheduling period
* Block scheduling is not accommodated
* No floating required unless traveler volunteers
* Patient ratios are variable based on case volumes
* Unit staffing ranges from 12 to 16 staff members based on case volumes
* Unit includes Pre-op with 8 beds, PACU with 6 beds, and 4 procedure rooms
* EMR system: Cerner
* Equipment used includes Olympus Scopes, ERBE, Medivator, ION, Boston Scientific, and Cook
* Dress code: Green surgical scrubs provided; Navy Blue scrubs are also acceptable
* Typical procedures include adult EGD, Sigmoidoscopy, Colonoscopy, EUS, ERCP, EBUS, Bronchoscopy, ION Navigational Bronchoscopy, Esophageal/Duodenal/Colonic/Axios Stent Placements, PEG Placement, Tracheostomy Placement, Pulmonary Cryo Therapy, Capsule Endoscopy, and Foreign Body Removal
* Pediatric procedures include EGD, Sigmoidoscopy, and Colonoscopy for patients ages 1 to 18
* Prior endoscopy experience required
* Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, Active NC or Compact State Nursing License
* Preferred experience: Pediatric Endoscopy, Pulmonary Endoscopy, and Endoscopy Tech experience
Facility:
This 815-bed acute care facility serves as a regional referral center for tertiary and quaternary care and is the only Level II trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, and children's hospital in the region. The facility offers a wide range of specialties including cardiovascular, orthopedics, neurosciences, oncology, pediatrics, women's services, and behavioral health, and is recognized as one of the busiest surgical hospitals in the state. An onsite children's hospital features 96 beds dedicated to infants and children, including a 51-bed Level III Neonatal ICU. The facility recently opened a new state-of-the-art patient tower with over 630,000 square feet, featuring a new Emergency Department, interventional procedural rooms, new operating rooms, and 220 private patient rooms.
