Opportunity:

RN - Orthopedics & Spine

Job Details:

* 48 hours guaranteed per week
* Day shift hours: 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM
* Night shift hours: 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
* Rotate through every 3rd weekend, sometimes every other weekend if leave of absence
* Patient ratios of 5-6:1
* Day shift staffing includes 1 Charge nurse, 8 RNs, 3 PCTs, and 1 Unit Clerk
* Night shift staffing includes 1 Charge nurse, 8 RNs, and 3 PCTs
* Work on a 36-bed unit with all private rooms
* Specialize in orthopedic injury, neurological conditions including stroke and head injuries, and traumas
* Perform wound care and dressing changes
* Utilize equipment including traction, external fixators, halos, walkers, gait belts, bed alarms, continuous pulse ox, and remote telemetry monitoring
* Use Meditech EMR system
* Check out an iPhone 7 each shift to use Mobile Heartbeat (iMobile) for team communication, patient caregiver visibility, and lab result monitoring
* Scrub color requirement: Royal Blue
* Acute care hospital experience on a Med/Surg or Telemetry type unit required
* Kansas nursing license required
* BLS certification required
* NIH certification preferred

This facility is a busy Level 2 trauma center featuring two freestanding emergency departments that support a fast-paced orthopedic and spine specialty unit. The unit recently expanded from 26 beds to 36 all-private-room beds to accommodate growing patient volume. The facility boasts a 0% first-year RN turnover rate and a 7% total RN turnover rate, well below the national average of 17%, reflecting a strong commitment to staff engagement and satisfaction.
