Neuro ICU Nights

Job Details:

* Night shift position in a Neuro Intensive Care Unit
* Block scheduling available
* Patient ratios of 2:1 (days, nights, and weekends)
* Float required to all Adult ICUs as needed
* Every other weekend required with approximately 50% weekend shifts per contract
* 2 years of experience preferred; first-time travelers welcome
* Required certifications in hand at time of submission: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
* Epic charting system experience preferred
* Previous charge experience preferred
* Trauma Level II experience preferred
* Must be able to perform EVD management, vent management, and stroke management
* Key clinical skills required include: arterial line management, care of ventilated patients, central line care, continuous IV sedation and paralytics, CVA/acute stroke management, external ventricular drain (EVD) management, ICP monitoring, lumbar drain management, post craniotomy and post neurosurgery management, traumatic brain injury care, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, and ventilator management
* Additional skills include: blood product administration, BiPAP/CPAP management, interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs), interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, IV insulin protocols, procedural sedation administration and monitoring, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), hypothermia protocol, spinal cord injury care, phlebotomy, PICC line management, and isolation precautions/PPE
* Responsible for coordinating all nursing care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
* Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including IV teams, respiratory services, pharmacy, phlebotomy, and rapid response teams
* Primarily caring for patients with strokes or neurological disorders
* Special procedures include CVC placement, rapid intubation, and EVD placement
* Conduct discharge planning and patient/family education
* Must maintain patient confidentiality at all times

This facility is a certified stroke center featuring a dedicated Neuro ICU with a strong emphasis on neurological and stroke patient care. The unit is supported by a comprehensive interdisciplinary team including IV teams, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, rapid response teams, and pharmacy. The facility maintains a consistent 2:1 patient ratio and supports specialized procedures including CVC placement, rapid intubation, and EVD placement.
