Opportunity:

RN - MS/Ortho

Job Details:

* Night shift position with 4 weekend shifts required per 4-week schedule period
* Holiday rotation schedule required
* Self-scheduling available
* First to float to other med/surg/tele units - tele experience is required
* Standby requirement monitored by central staffing
* 32-bed MS/Ortho unit with a 4:1 nurse-to-patient ratio with 2-3 PCTs on day shift
* Care for post-operative patients including colorectal, urological, bariatric, hepatobiliary, hysterectomy, breast reconstruction, and chemo/oncology patients
* Strong post-op assessment and time management skills required due to high patient turnover
* PCAs administered; RNs are not required to titrate drips
* CPAP and high flow oxygen used for palliative care patients only
* Unit is equipped to admit patients to hall/overflow space and may require prepping rooms to double-bunk
* 2-shift orientation with a preceptor provided
* Charting system: Cerner
* Minimum 2 years of recent experience required (within the past 6 months)
* Must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to start (maximum 2 attempts)
* Must pass a Sim Lab evaluation on day one of orientation
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS
* ONS Chemo Provider Card preferred
* Navy blue scrubs required
* BSN not required

This acute care facility is a Level 1 Trauma Center offering a wide range of specialized medical services. The MS/Ortho unit provides comprehensive post-operative and oncology care with a focus on patient safety and quality outcomes. The facility utilizes Cerner for electronic charting and supports staff with structured orientation programs and central staffing coordination to ensure optimal patient care.
