RN - MedSurg Ortho/Neuro

Job Details:

* 3x12 hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
* Every other weekend required - nights schedule includes Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
* Rotating holidays required based on unit needs
* Patient ratios of 1:5-6 for both shifts
* 21-bed unit with 7 private rooms and 7 semi-private rooms
* Charting system: EPIC
* Required certifications: BLS (AHA), NIHSS; ACLS preferred
* Must have basic arrhythmia knowledge and ability to recognize fatal rhythms (permanent staff read strips)
* Telemetry monitored remotely
* Experience with IV gtts including Heparin and Protonix required (no titrating or cardiac gtts)
* Experience with BiPAP, CPAP, and High Flow respiratory equipment required
* IV access using B-Braun equipment (no IV team on unit)
* Charting and schedule requests entered through Kronos; block scheduling available if included in contract
* Common patient diagnoses include total joint replacements, spinal procedures, occasional burr holes, seizures, craniotomies, brain stimulation, traction for hips, Buck's traction, and MedSurg overflow
* May float to any MedSurg unit; will not float to ED or Behavioral Health
* One shift orientation with a preceptor including Net Learning Modules and EPIC training
* Dress code: Navy blue scrubs, navy or white jacket, white or navy undershirt, natural hair color only, excessive or distasteful tattoos must be covered
* BSN not required

Facility:

This acute care facility operates a dedicated MedSurg Ortho/Neuro unit with 24/7 support services including a hospitalist in-house, charge nurse coverage, respiratory therapy, and pharmacy services. The unit utilizes EPIC for electronic medical records and Omnicell for pharmacy management. The facility maintains comprehensive support staff including Patient Care Technicians and a robust clinical coordination team to ensure high-quality patient care.
