Opportunity:

RN - Psychiatric

Job Details:

* 48 hours guaranteed per week
* 12-hour shifts required with coverage seven days a week including weekends
* Days off are not guaranteed unless specified in contract
* No on-call requirements
* Patient ratio: 8 nurses to 1 patient; MHTs 12:1
* 10-bed unit on Adult Psychiatric floor
* Floating policy based on greatest need (C/L utilized)
* Documentation system: Meditech
* Nurses wear blue scrubs; MHTs wear green or black
* Active Blue Card CPI required at time of submission
* Required certifications: BLS and CPI
* Assess patients' mental health status including recognizing signs of psychiatric disorders, substance use, and behavioral problems
* Take thorough patient histories, observe behavior, and use diagnostic tools
* Develop individualized care plans for patients with mental health and behavioral issues, including setting goals, implementing interventions, and evaluating outcomes
* Administer psychiatric medications and monitor for side effects or adverse reactions; knowledge of psychotropic medications required
* Provide crisis intervention and immediate short-term support to patients in crisis including suicidal ideation and aggression management
* Utilize de-escalation techniques and appropriate medication management
* Apply therapeutic communication skills including active listening and empathy to build trust and rapport with patients
* Monitor patients for physical and psychological symptoms including vital signs, mental status changes, and medication effects
* Follow HCA ICARE values (Integrity, Compassion, Always, Respect) and AIDET communication standards
