Opportunity:

RN - ICU/Step-down

Job Details:

* Work 12-hour night shifts from 6:45 PM to 6:45 AM
* Every other weekend requirement
* Rotate holidays with permanent staff
* Cancellation policy: 12 hours every 2 weeks
* Must have minimum 2 years of experience in specialty to be considered
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS
* 10-bed unit with a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio
* Scrub color requirements: Hunter green pants, white tops, white jackets, or solid white
* Charge nurse takes patients
* No nurse aides on unit
* Nurses are responsible for monitoring and reading their own telemetry; monitor brand is Phillips
* Ventilator brand: Draeger
* EMR system: Meditech
* Common diagnoses include pneumonia, CHF, sepsis, and lower acuity ICU patients with a stepdown level of care
* No cath lab patients as there is no interventional cath in house
* Unit occasionally retains surgical pediatric patients such as pediatric cholecystectomy cases
* Typically runs low patient volume, usually fewer than 5 patients
* IV team available Monday through Friday for difficult sticks and midlines
* Respiratory therapy available 24/7
* Hospitalist in house covering the whole facility
* Do not float out of unit; may float to ER if qualified and credentialed
* Floor-specific orientation: 3 shifts
* Strict 75-mile radius rule enforced

This acute care facility operates a specialized step-down/ICU unit focused on managing lower acuity critical care patients in a controlled, lower-volume environment. The facility offers comprehensive support services including 24/7 respiratory therapy, an in-house hospitalist team, and a dedicated IV team available during weekday hours. The unit is equipped with modern technology including Phillips telemetry monitors and Draeger ventilators to support high-quality patient care.
