Opportunity:
MLT - Medical Laboratory Technician
Job Details:
* Active Phlebotomist License required
* Active Washington State MA-P License required
* Perform various technical, clerical, and information systems related procedures in Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Blood Bank, specimen procurement, and other laboratory areas
* Operate laboratory equipment within established policies to provide timely and accurate test results
* Analyze laboratory findings to check the accuracy of results
* Enter data from analysis of medical tests and clinical results into computer for storage
* Set up, clean, and maintain laboratory equipment
* Work with laboratory equipment, including preparation and analysis of slides and specimens of human blood, tissue, or other cells
* Operate, calibrate, and maintain equipment used in quantitative and qualitative analysis such as chemistry, hematology, coagulation, and microbiology
* Establish and monitor quality assurance programs and activities to ensure accuracy of laboratory results
* Collect and study blood samples to determine number of cells, morphology, blood group, blood type, and compatibility for transfusion purposes using microscopic techniques
* Conduct chemical analysis of body fluids including blood, urine, and spinal fluid to determine presence of normal and abnormal components
* Identify abnormalities in samples such as malignancies, bacteria, parasites, or genetic abnormalities
* Assist with blood-typing and other routine blood tests as needed
* Provide technical information about test results to physicians, family members, and researchers
* Perform specimen collection on patients of all age groups including venipuncture, capillary draws, and culturing sites
* Instruct nursing staff on correct methods of sample collection
* Monitor quality control procedures and maintain involvement in Laboratory Quality Improvement program
