5S MedSurg RN

Job Details:

* Night shift position with 3x12 or 4x12 scheduling options on weekdays and weekends
* 13-week contract with possibility of extension
* Patient ratios of 1:5-7
* Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
* Travel experience not required
* Blocked schedule: unit cannot guarantee schedule requests but will work with travelers as best as possible
* Scrubs not provided
* Charting system: Cerner (experience required)
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS (must be through American Heart Association where applicable)
* Facility will only tolerate 2-3 call offs per contract
* Care for adult patients in a 34-bed acute medical-surgical unit with a daily census of 25-30
* Skills required include but are not limited to: BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, chest tube management, IV insulin protocols, PICC line management, tracheostomy care, wound care/wound vac, interpretation of dysrhythmias and ABGs, and use of rapid response/code teams
* Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy

This 34-bed acute medical-surgical unit manages patients with a wide range of diagnoses and care needs in a fast-paced and challenging environment. The nursing staff is adaptable and well prepared to provide care in complex situations, embodying teamwork, compassion, and evidence-based practice to ensure safe and high-quality patient care. The unit maintains a strong balance of experienced and novice staff members and emphasizes respect and professionalism in delivering excellent care to the community.
