Opportunity:
RN - 6S Post-OP/Oncology/Tele
Job Details:
* 12-hour shifts available on both day (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM) and night (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM) rotations
* Every-other-weekend requirement with Saturday and Sunday shifts for both days and nights
* Holiday rotation shared with permanent staff
* Work on a 36-bed unit with typical nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5-6
* Care for general MedSurg patients, post-operative patients (laparoscopic cholecystectomy, laparoscopic appendectomy), and oncology patients with complications such as neutropenic precautions, pneumonia, and infections
* Experience with chest tubes strongly preferred, including malignant patients discharged with PleurX chest tubes
* Occasional psychiatric patients who may require 1:1 monitoring with a sitter
* Heparin drip titration required; no cardiac drips administered on this unit
* Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips independently; Phillips monitors used with a central monitor tech available for the entire hospital
* CPAP and BiPap present on unit; managed by respiratory therapy
* Charge nurse available 24/7; day charge nurses do not take patient assignments, night charge nurses do take patient assignments
* Three CNAs available on both day and night shifts
* Float to any MedSurg/Tele unit as needed
* Royal blue scrubs required; no false nails permitted
* Charting completed using EPIC system
* Required certification: BLS (AHA)
* ONS/ONCC (Chemotherapy Biotherapy) certification is a plus
* Must provide a copy of an unexpired driver's license with submission (50-mile radius rule applies)
