Opportunity:
RN - PCU
Job Details:
* Float pool position - will not be assigned a home unit and will float between approximately 5 units across all Med/Surg Intermediate/PCU departments and other metro campuses as needed
* Patient ratio of 1:6
* 8 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule period, any combination of Friday, Saturday, or Sunday
* Holiday shifts and Charge RN assignments required as needed per unit
* No on-call required
* Guaranteed hours: 3 shifts per 13 weeks
* Minimum 1-2 years of experience required; first-time travelers accepted
* Previous charge experience preferred
* Home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility
* Maximum of 7 days of RTO per contract
* Required certifications: BLS, NIHSS; ACLS preferred
* Missouri or Compact nursing license required
* Charting system: Epic
* Work settings include MS/Tele, Telemetry, Neuro Stepdown, and PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown
* Required skills include cardiac monitoring, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, telemetry monitoring, and use of Rapid Response Teams
* Cardiovascular skills required: Post MI and Pre/Post Cardiac Cath experience
* IV therapy and phlebotomy skills required: accessing ports, blood product administration, central line care and management, PICC line management, peripheral line care, and starting IVs
* Medication management skills required: Heparin protocols, cardiac drips (no titration), and PCA
* Respiratory skills required: chest tubes, external CPAP/BiPAP, high flow nasal cannula, interpretation of ABGs, tracheostomy management, and non-invasive airway management
* Additional skills required: feeding tube care and management, continuous bladder irrigation, pre/post hemodialysis management, IV insulin protocols, wound care/wound vac, and isolation precautions
* Patient population includes adults with diagnoses such as heart failure, myocardial infarction, stroke, COPD, pulmonary embolisms, bacteremia, cellulitis, hematuria, seizures, and alcohol withdrawal
* Interdisciplinary support available including respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, rapid response teams, and pharmacy
