Opportunity:
RN - CVICU
Job Details:
* Every other weekend schedule required with holiday coverage (must work 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 holidays per unit needs)
* Patient ratios of 1:1 to 1:2+ depending on census, patient acuity, and staffing
* Must float within skillset to all ICUs, PACU ICU holds, ED ICU holds, and Cardiac IMC units without exception
* Scrubs: Navy Blue
* Charting system: EPIC experience required
* Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
* 2 years of recent CVICU experience required; SICU experience may be considered if initial training was completed in a CVICU
* Must have experience with fresh post-op cardiac cases including CABG, MVR, AVR, and TAVR
* Must have experience with Impella, IABP, and CRRT using PrisMax
* Active NJ or Compact nursing license required at time of submission
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
* IV therapy and medication skills required: arterial line management, blood product administration, central/PICC line care, starting and maintaining IVs, continuous IV paralytics/neuromuscular blockade and sedation, emergency medications, procedural sedation administration and monitoring, titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips, IV insulin protocols
* Respiratory and thoracic skills required: chest tube insertion/removal, BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilated patient care, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), arterial blood gas interpretation, suctioning (ETT, NT), ventilator management
* Cardiovascular skills required: CABG, cardiac surgery recovery, TAVR, valve repair/replacement, post-op open heart recovery, temporary pacers, FloTrac/Vigileo monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, 12-lead EKG
* Renal and neurological skills required: chronic/acute renal failure management, CVVHD/CRRT, CVA/acute stroke management, hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun, lumbar drains
* General skills required: multisystem organ dysfunction/failure management, infection prevention, isolation precautions/PPE, phlebotomy
* Patients served include adults and geriatrics
* First-time travelers accepted; local candidates accepted

This facility is a 628-bed academic Level I Trauma Center affiliated with a major university. The CVICU specializes in caring for patients requiring cardiac surgery, heart transplantation, ventricular assist devices, TAVR, and ECMO. The facility's Heart, Vascular and Thoracic program was the first in New Jersey to achieve Comprehensive Cardiac Center accreditation through The Joint Commission and the American Heart Association, providing CABG, valve, and aortic surgery. The facility is part of New Jersey's largest integrated healthcare system and offers robust interdisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and more.
