Opportunity:
RN - Float Pool
Job Details:
* Float Pool assignment covering MedSurg Tele and PCU units across both campuses, including inpatients holding in ED
* 12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
* Every other weekend requirement
* Must work 2 of 3 major holidays as part of permanent staff rotation
* First to float when census requires
* No on-call or standby requirement
* Schedule is published 6 weeks out for 4 weeks at a time; travelers must be flexible
* Unit assignments communicated via text message 2 hours prior to shift start from staffing office
* Nurse-to-patient ratios: PCU 1:4, MedSurg Tele 1:5-6
* At least 1 year of experience in a PCU setting required
* Must be able to interpret cardiac rhythm strips
* Must be comfortable titrating drips including Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Insulin
* Common patient populations include geriatric, orthopedic, post-procedural cardiac patients, post-MI, post-cardiac cath, and CABG post-op day 3-4
* RT equipment includes CPAP and BiPAP in MedSurg; BiPAP, CPAP, and Heated High Flow in PCU
* Nurse aides utilized in all settings
* Charting system: Cerner
* Solid color professional scrubs required; transitioning to Navy scrubs in October per updated dress code guidelines
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA)
* Must take and pass a dysrhythmia exam with a minimum score of 80% within two attempts prior to signing contract
* Orientation includes 8-hour general hospital orientation, one 12-hour shift at West MedSurg Tele, and one 12-hour shift at West PCU

The organization features a strong cardiac program including a robust cath lab, stepdown units, and MedSurg Tele floors supported by monitor technicians and charge nurses who do not take patient assignments.
