Job Details:
* Work 12-hour shifts from 1:00 PM to 1:00 AM
* Every other weekend required, or the equivalent of 6-9 weekend shifts within a 6-week scheduling period
* Every other holiday required
* No on-call or standby requirement
* 2-3 days of unit/department specific orientation required; must be in state for week of orientation even if first day modules are completed remotely
* Must have a minimum of 2 years of ED experience
* Must float within Zone 3 (based around Denver City Center) - no home base facility; zone covers a 60-mile radius and traveler is responsible for obtaining housing that makes floating feasible
* Zone 3 float facilities include: OrthoColorado Hospital (Lakewood, CO), Longmont United Hospital (Longmont, CO), St. Anthony Hospital (Lakewood, CO), St. Anthony North Hospital (Westminster, CO), and 84th Ave Emergency Room (Westminster, CO)
* Schedules are released 4-6 weeks in advance and may follow one of two formats: scheduled at a single facility for the week with possible floating within that facility, or Just-In-Time (JIT) where facility is assigned 1-2 hours before shift start via call
* Travelers are expected to be flexible and help fill gaps in permanent scheduling
* Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5 based on acuity
* Must be able to read and interpret telemetry independently as no monitor techs are available
* Will be trained and expected to perform Point-of-Care lab testing
* Common diagnoses include abdominal pain, diabetes, NSTEMI, pneumonia, trauma, stroke, and hypertension
* Must be able to manage standard ER medications and drips
* Respiratory therapy available 24/7
* Charting system: EPIC
* Scrub color: Navy Blue
* Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), NIHSS, TNCC
* Must submit a 2-week notice to avoid back-out penalty fee
* Cannot miss more than 3 shifts in a 13-week contract; missed shifts can be made up on the front or back end of requested time off
Facility:
This float pool opportunity spans multiple acute care facilities within a 60-mile radius of Denver, Colorado. The facilities vary in size and trauma designation, with the majority being STEMI and stroke receiving centers and some holding Trauma Level 3 designations. Patient volumes range from 40 to 168 patients per day depending on location. Each facility is supported by respiratory therapy available around the clock, as well as technicians who assist with unit secretary work, floor support, and triage assistance.
