Opportunity:
CST - Surgical Technologist
Job Details:
* Must have CST and BLS certifications at time of submission
* Scrub in on surgical procedures under professional nurse supervision for advanced and complex surgeries
* Anticipate surgeon preferences for materials and instruments and respond to those preferences proactively
* Set up sterile table with instruments, equipment, supplies, and medications/solutions needed for surgical procedures
* Update nurse based on continuing assessment of equipment needs and physician preferences
* Disassemble and reassemble instruments or equipment requiring cleaning and prepare instruments for terminal sterilization
* Monitor supplies and instruments to ensure sterility of materials used in support of quality assurance
* Inventory and monitor assigned service supplies and order as needed
* Develop and implement educational programs and learning aids for the department including in-service classes and patient care standards
* Provide input regarding the need for changes in policies, procedures, and patient care standards
* Serve as backup call for emergency cases that may require two surgical technicians
* Participate in assigned committees
* High School Diploma or GED required
* Completion of a technologist training program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs or a recognized accrediting agency required
* Minimum of 1 year of experience required
* Knowledge of anatomy and physiology with appropriate instrumentation, suturing materials, needles, prosthetic devices, and other supplies required
* Knowledge of wound healing and complications required
* Skills in sterile technique and processing and patient positioning required
* Must live at least 100 miles away from the facility address
