Opportunity:

Surgical Technologist

Job Details:

* Must be proficient in total joint, sports medicine, general, and orthopedic spine procedures
* Work under the direct supervision of a surgeon to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures
* Ensure the operating room environment is safe and that equipment functions properly
* Handle instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during surgical procedures
* Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and understand procedures being performed
* Check supplies and equipment needed for each procedure
* Scrub, gown, and glove self, surgeon, and assistants
* Perform appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation and before incision is closed
* Assist in draping the sterile field and passing instruments to the surgeon during procedures
* Maintain the highest standard of sterile technique throughout all procedures
* Assist with terminal cleaning of the room and prepare instruments for terminal sterilization
* Assist in prepping the surgical suite for the next patient
* Work with new employees and students to help train them in the Surgical Technologist role
* Not permitted to function in the circulating nurse role, first assistant role, or administer medications
* Certification by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting required
* Trade or technical school certificate or diploma required
* Minimum of one year of previous experience preferred
