Opportunity:
RN - CVICU
Job Details:
* Every other weekend requirement plus holiday coverage
* Must be available to work 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 holidays per unit needs
* Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
* Patient ratios of 1:1 to 1:2+ for days, nights, and weekends
* Required to float within skillset to all ICUs, PACU ICU holds, ED ICU holds, and Cardiac IMC units without exception
* 2 years of recent CVICU experience required; SICU experience may be considered if initial training was completed in a CVICU
* Must have experience with fresh post-op cardiac cases including CABG, MVR, AVR, and TAVR
* Must have experience with Impella, IABP, and CRRT using PrisMax
* EPIC charting experience required
* Navy blue scrubs required
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
* Active NJ or Compact nursing license required at time of submission
* IV therapy skills required: arterial line management, blood product administration, central/PICC line management, starting IVs, continuous IV paralytics/neuromuscular blockade and sedation, emergency medications, procedural sedation administration and monitoring, titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips, IV insulin protocols
* Respiratory and thoracic skills required: chest tube insertion and removal, BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilated patient care, high flow nasal cannula, ABG interpretation, suctioning (ETT and NT), ventilator management
* Cardiovascular skills required: CABG, cardiac surgery care (directly and not directly from OR), TAVR, valve repair and replacement, post-op open heart recovery, temporary pacers, FloTrac/Vigileo monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, 12-lead EKG
* Renal and neurological skills required: chronic and acute renal failure management, CVVHD/CRRT, CVA/acute stroke management, hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun, lumbar drains
* General skills required: multisystem organ dysfunction and failure management, infection prevention, isolation precautions and PPE, phlebotomy
* Patients served include adults and geriatrics
* Interdisciplinary support available including physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and unit secretary
Facility:
This facility is a 628-bed academic Level I Trauma Center affiliated with a major university. The CVICU cares for patients requiring cardiac surgery, heart transplantation, ventricular assist devices, TAVR, and ECMO. The hospital's Heart, Vascular, and Thoracic program was the first in New Jersey to achieve Comprehensive Cardiac Center accreditation through The Joint Commission and American Heart Association, and provides CABG, valve, and aortic surgery. This facility is part of New Jersey's largest integrated healthcare system.
