Med Surg/Tele 7th Floor Tower
Job Details:
* 13-week travel contract
* Day shift patient ratio: 1:4 | Night shift patient ratio: 1:5
* Every other weekend required (must work 4 weekend shifts per contract)
* Floating between like units within skill set is required
* No on-call required
* Minimum 2 years of experience required
* First-time travelers accepted
* Charge experience preferred
* Required certification: BLS
* Charting system: Epic (experience required)
* Care for adult and geriatric patients including post-surgical, medical-surgical, and medical telemetry patients
* Medical telemetry patients monitored by on-site Central Monitoring Unit (CMU)
* Required skills include: accessing/managing ports, central line care/management, chest tubes, continuous bladder irrigation (CBI), epidural analgesia, feeding tube care and management, heparin protocols, isolation precautions/PPE, IV insulin protocols, cardiac and vasoactive drip management, PCA, peripheral and PICC line management, surgical drains, telemetry/remote monitoring, tracheostomy care, wound care/wound vac, and use of rapid response/code teams
* Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation
* Must commit to working 3 of the 5 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
* Compact license must be in hand at time of submission
* Local travelers with permanent residence within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible for a travel contract
Facility:
This short-term acute care facility operates with 325 staffed beds and utilizes Epic as its charting system. The facility maintains a surgical acute unit on the 7th floor serving post-surgical, medical-surgical, and medical telemetry patients. With a daily census of 29 patients and 29 beds on the unit, the facility offers robust interdisciplinary support services to ensure comprehensive patient care.
