Job Details:

* 4x12 or 3x12 variable shift schedule (traveler's choice)
* Shifts will be either days or nights based on facility needs at time of start date - caregivers are not typically asked to rotate between night and day shifts
* Assignment duration of 13 or 26 weeks (traveler's choice)
* Guaranteed 60 hours per 2-week period with the possibility of being called off for one 12-hour shift per 2-week period
* Patient ratio of 1:20 for days, nights, and weekends
* No on-call required
* Must be willing to float within scope to meet facility needs
* Must be willing to work at least 2 of the 3 major winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's) - preference given to travelers willing to work any holidays
* All requested time off must be submitted at time of submittal - RTO will not be considered after an offer or after signing a contract
* No more than 1 week of RTO for a 13-week contract; no more than 2 weeks of RTO for a 26-week contract
* Minimum 1 year of experience required
* Previous travel experience required
* Long-term care experience required
* Charge experience preferred
* LTAC experience preferred
* Alaska license must be in hand at time of submission - pending licenses not accepted
* Required certification: BLS
* Required skills: Oxygen administration, peripheral line care, isolation precautions/PPE
* Must be comfortable performing accuchecks, implanted glucose sensor monitoring, PEG tube (G-tube) feedings, Duopa pump management, IV hydration PRN, phlebotomy lab draws, peritoneal dialysis (subcutaneous only), respiratory treatments (nebulizers), and wound care
* Must be comfortable working with special equipment including lifts, vital sign machines, glucose monitors, Sara Steady, pacemaker transmitter, and EKGs
* Patient population includes adults and geriatrics with diagnoses such as dementia, Alzheimer's, TBI, plegics, cognitive impairments, and physical impairments
* Charting system: ECS
* Scrub color: Any
* Parking is free
* Facility will provide shuttle to and from Anchorage at the beginning and end of the assignment; local shuttle in Seward available for local transportation needs
* Must obtain Alaska Food Worker Certification as a requirement of working in an LTC facility - certification is obtained during on-site orientation with a one-time $10 fee
* Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility - locals not accepted

Facility:

This long-term care facility operates with a total of 40 staffed beds and provides specialized care for adults and geriatric patients with a range of complex diagnoses including dementia, Alzheimer's, traumatic brain injuries, and various cognitive and physical impairments. The facility offers interdisciplinary support including social services and is equipped to handle a variety of clinical procedures and specialized equipment to meet the diverse needs of its patient population.
