Opportunity:

RN - Labor and Delivery

Job Details:

* Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
* Weekend rotation required every other to every third weekend
* Half of holidays required, alternating yearly
* On-call requirement of 1-2 twelve-hour shifts per 6-week period, which can be broken into 4-hour blocks with a 30-minute call back time
* Self-staffed unit with scheduling committee made up of unit staff with leadership approval
* Minimum one year of Labor and Delivery experience required; LDRP experience ideal
* Must be proficient in OR circulating and recovery, stabilizing newborns, couplet care post-recovery, and clean gynecological procedures such as hysterectomies
* Required to titrate drips including Pitocin and Insulin
* Common diagnoses include labor, preeclampsia, hypertension, obesity, gestational diabetes, and preterm labor (gestation 32 weeks/1,500 grams minimum; transfers required below this threshold)
* Unit consists of 7 Labor and Delivery beds, 1 OR suite for C-sections, 2 triage beds, and 7 postpartum beds
* Unit follows AWHONN guidelines for staffing ratios
* Charting system: MEDITECH
* EFM system: OBIX
* Floating may be required in critical need situations to med-surg as a helping hand or sitter only; no full patient assignment
* Hospital-provided scrubs required; waterproof non-slip shoes required
* Department-specific orientation provided, up to 3 shifts
* Illinois nursing license required
* Required certifications: BLS, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced

This acute care facility operates a dedicated Labor and Delivery unit providing comprehensive obstetric and gynecological services. The unit is supported by OB Hospitalists available in-house around the clock, remote telemetry monitoring capabilities, and anesthesia services available on-site during weekday day shifts with rapid response available at all other times. The facility prioritizes patient safety and quality care, adhering to AWHONN guidelines and maintaining a collaborative, self-staffed scheduling environment.
