Opportunity:

Clinical Laboratory Scientist

Job Details:

* Perform tests of waived and nonwaived complexity in all sections of the laboratory
* Follow procedures for quality control and assurance and correctly document all work performed
* Oversee the work of lab assistants
* Perform skin, arterial, and venipuncture collections as necessary
* Properly identify patients before collecting or accepting specimens
* Perform phlebotomy procedures as necessary
* Properly label and identify specimens throughout the workflow
* Know and follow specimen type and handling requirements
* Process specimens promptly and correctly
* Use the EMR and LIS to manage specimens and orders
* Promptly call critical values to licensed caregivers and document calls
* Perform correct procedures for quality control of all testing
* Correctly identify and respond to quality control variances
* Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment
* Manage time and tasks to maximize overall efficiency
* Take an active role in quality assurance and improvement
* Use precautions, practice controls, and other safety behaviors
* Assist with ancillary duties including stocking supplies and clerical tasks
* California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License required
* Ability to read and communicate effectively in English required
* Basic computer knowledge required
