Opportunity:
Speech Language Pathologist
Job Details:
* Partner with residents and care providers to deliver Speech Language Pathology services aimed at maximizing function and independence in daily activities
* Perform evaluative and therapeutic procedures under physician or accepted healthcare provider orders
* Provide evaluation and treatment in communication disorders and dysphagia, including modified barium swallow studies
* Evaluate residents per department protocols and establish therapeutic plans of care with functional long- and short-term goals
* Seek input from residents and primary caregivers regarding therapeutic plans of care
* Monitor and evaluate treatment effectiveness and modify treatment plans as necessary
* Document all evaluative and therapeutic interactions per department procedures in accessible language
* Recommend and obtain appropriate communication and swallowing assistive devices and provide instruction in their use
* Provide education to residents and caregivers and document responses to teaching
* Understand Medicare, Medicaid, and other reimbursement regulations
* Provide in-services on clinical knowledge and skills to nursing and other departments
* Assist with development of new Speech Therapy programs and services
* Maintain required licenses, certifications, and competencies and complete annual compliance courses on time
* Coordinate and ensure Speech and Language coverage
* Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds independently; above 50 pounds requires a 2-person lift
* Master's degree required
* Speech & Language Pathologist license required
* Certificate of Clinical Competence required
* Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred
* Prior experience in a long-term care or skilled nursing facility preferred
