Open Position: RN - Stepdown

Estimated Gross Weekly Pay: $2463.52

Opportunity:

RN - Neuro Stepdown & EMU (Epilepsy Monitoring Unit)

Job Details:

* Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
* Three 12-hour shifts per week with flexibility required; three shifts in a row possible but not guaranteed
* Every other weekend or 2 weekend shifts per schedule required
* Holiday rotation participation expected
* Possible floating to units 7E, 7W, 7NE, or 10W
* Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3 for Stepdown and 1:5-6 for EMU floor
* Nurse aides available on unit at a ratio of 1:8-9, with 4 aides per shift
* Charge nurse available 24/7 and respiratory therapy available 24/7
* Care for higher acuity neuroscience patients including strokes, seizures, craniotomies, and epilepsy monitoring
* Experience with EVDs preferred; strong overall neuro experience required
* History of caring for stroke patients and implementing NIH stroke scale required
* Familiarity with common drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitro, Dopamine, Nipride, Ketamine, Lasix, Bumex, and Insulin
* Telemetry present on unit; RNs are not required to read strips
* RNs not required to have ventilator experience; floor vents managed by RT and physician
* EPIC experience required
* Royal blue scrubs required
* 2-shift unit orientation provided
* Cancellation policy: 2 shifts per 13-week contract
* Required certifications: BLS, NIHSS (must be in hand at time of submission)
* ACLS preferred
* BSN not required
* Strong neuro experience required; all stepdown-qualified RNs considered

This acute care facility houses a dedicated Neuroscience Stepdown and Epilepsy Monitoring Unit with 31 total beds, including 25 stepdown beds and 6 EMU beds. The unit is part of a renowned neuroscience institute and provides specialized inpatient care for high-acuity neurological patients. The facility offers comprehensive support services including 24/7 charge nurse coverage, around-the-clock respiratory therapy, and nurse aide assistance to ensure exceptional patient care.
