Opportunity:
RN - Float Pool
Job Details:
* 12-hour shifts available for both days (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM) and nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
* Every other weekend requirement
* Holiday coverage required as needed
* No on-call requirement; standby may be required if census is low
* Float pool covers all inpatient units based on competency including ICU, Step-down, and Medical/Surgical
* Patient ratios vary by unit: Med/Surg 1:6, Step-down 1:4-5, ICU 1:2-3
* Med/Surg background required; Step-down experience preferred
* RNs required to titrate drips in Step-down areas only
* Common titratable drips include Heparin, Cardizem, Nitro, Insulin, Dobutamine, Dopamine, and others
* Common patient diagnoses include cardiac, orthopedic/neuro, surgical, and general medical
* CPAP and BiPAP present on all units; ventilators in ICU; chronic trach vents may go to Step-down
* Telemetry available with monitor techs; CVU reads own strips
* Daily unit assignments obtained by calling the staffing office
* Charge nurse available day shift Monday through Friday; House Supervisor available 24/7
* Nurse aides available on units
* Unit/department-specific orientation is 3-4 shifts
* Scrub color required: Royal Blue
* Charting system: EPIC
* Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA)
* Valid driver's license with current permanent address must be submitted with application

This acute care facility operates a comprehensive float pool program spanning multiple inpatient units, including ICU, Step-down, and Medical/Surgical floors. The facility maintains a robust staffing infrastructure with a dedicated staffing office, house supervisors available around the clock, and a well-established PCT float pool.
