RN - Float Pool

Job Details:

* Night shift position working 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
* 6 to 9 weekend shifts required within a 6-week schedule
* May be asked to participate in holiday rotation
* Schedules are released 4 to 6 weeks in advance by leadership
* All time off requests must be submitted prior to starting assignment
* Travelers cannot miss more than 3 shifts in a 13-week contract
* Must float within Zone 1 facilities across a 60-mile radius from Colorado Springs city center, including Penrose Hospital, St. Francis Medical Center, St. Francis InterQuest, St. Mary Corwin, and St. Thomas More
* No home base facility - must live 60 miles from each facility to be eligible
* Traveler is responsible for obtaining housing that makes floating throughout the full 60-mile zone feasible
* Schedule may follow Option A (assigned to single facility for the week with possible float within that facility) or Option B Just-In-Time (facility assigned 1 to 2 hours before shift start via call)
* Float pool covers multiple units including General MS-Tele, Cardiac, Neuro, Oncology, Rehab, Renal, Bariatrics, Ortho, Trauma, and ED Observation
* May be asked to float into other acuity levels including ICU (low acuity holds), PCU/Stepdown, and MS-Tele
* Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5-6 based on acuity
* Designated charge nurse on each unit who typically does not take a patient assignment
* Nurse aides are available on units
* Required to titrate Heparin drips
* RT equipment including vents, CPAP, and BiPAP utilized on unit
* Charting system is EPIC
* Must have 2 years of MS-Tele experience; prior neuro experience preferred
* Common patient population includes adults and geriatrics with diagnoses including Cardiac, Neuro, Ortho, Oncology, Renal, Urology post-surgical, General Surgery, Gynecology, Psych/Detox, ENT, and General Medicine
* Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NIHSS
* Rare on-call or standby requirement for low census situations
* Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment
