Opportunity:

Radiation Therapist

Job Details:

* Day shift schedule working five 8-hour shifts per week
* Administer ionizing radiation to patients in accordance with prescriptions and instructions from department physicians
* Deliver prescribed course of radiation therapy by checking prescription, diagnosis chart, and patient identification
* Explain procedures to patients, including means of communication during treatment and basic treatment procedure
* Deliver prescribed daily dose to patients while observing radiation safety measures for patient and personnel
* Prepare room and equipment for patients according to prescription or simulation regarding immobilization devices
* Transfer patients to treatment couch with attention to special needs of each patient
* Observe patients for unusual reactions and signs or symptoms of developing complications during treatment
* Report reactions and complications to supervisor and department physician
* Maintain a variety of records including daily treatment records and patient charts
* Regularly review patient charts to eliminate errors and ensure blood counts and special reports are properly recorded
* Provide clinical supervision and evaluate students' practical ability to perform procedures
* Minimum two years of recent experience in the field required
* Required certifications: ARRT-Radiation Therapy (ARRT-T), Therapeutic Radiologic Technology Certification (TRT), BLS
* Preferred certifications: CPR/BLS, Fluoroscopy Permit from the state of practice Department of Health Services
* Bachelor's Degree in radiological technology or equivalent preferred; Master's Degree preferred
