RN - L&D

Job Details:

* High risk, high volume Labor & Delivery unit with 4 operating rooms
* Minimum of 3-5 years of experience required; 5 years of high risk L&D experience preferred
* Must be able to work in a fast-paced, high acuity environment
* Work every other weekend and holidays as needed; must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays
* Schedule is posted every 6 weeks to meet unit needs
* Float required to Postpartum and Antepartum units; may also float to sister facilities for Mother/Baby coverage
* Average daily census of 15 patients; 500-600 deliveries per month
* 31 rooms and 31 beds on unit
* Must function in the role of Baby Nurse during delivery and continue care of newborn until transfer to postpartum
* Must be able to circulate for C-sections
* Must provide newborn care including eyes, Vitamin K injections (thighs), and newborn assessments
* Patient diagnoses include midwifery clients, private OB patients, adult recovery services supporting substance recovery, and community care clinic patients
* Required skills include: amnioinfusion, anticoagulation therapy, antihypertensives, APGAR scores, assisting with high risk and vaginal deliveries, cesarean section, circulating for C-section, couplet care, epidural anesthesia, fetal monitoring, hemorrhage/shock management, magnesium sulfate therapy, neonatal resuscitation, newborn assessment, Pitocin administration, postpartum hemorrhage management, and triage of obstetrical patients
* Medications include Heparin, Insulin, and Magnesium Sulfate
* Charting system: Epic (required)
* Patient ratio: 1:2
* Patient age groups: Neonates, Infants, Adolescents, Geriatrics
* Interdisciplinary support includes Respiratory Services, Interpretation Services, Radiology, Social Services, Rapid Response Teams, and Pharmacy
* Required certifications: BLS, NRP
* Preferred certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, AWHONN Intermediate
* Compact nursing license must be in hand at time of submission

This facility is a high-volume, high-acuity Labor & Delivery unit that follows AWHONN staffing guidelines and supports a diverse patient population including midwifery clients, private OB patients, and those in adult recovery services. The unit features 4 operating rooms and 31 beds, delivering 500-600 babies per month. Comprehensive interdisciplinary support services are available on-site, including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, social services, and rapid response teams, ensuring a collaborative and well-resourced care environment.
