Open Position: RN - Med Surg Tele

Opportunity:

RN - PCU/MS

Job Details:

* 12-hour shifts with option for 36-hour guarantee per week
* Every other weekend and every other holiday required
* No on-call or standby requirements
* Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:4 on days, 1:6 on nights
* Nurse aides available on unit: 1:8 ratio on days, 1:14 on nights
* Charge nurse takes a smaller assignment; agency staff not required to work in charge role
* Common diagnoses and patient types include abdominal surgeries, ear/nose/throat surgeries, complex wounds, and general medical patients
* Required skills: IVs, drains, ostomies, wound vacs, NG tubes, Foley catheters, and electronic health record experience
* Intermediate care background strongly preferred
* RNs required to titrate drips including Heparin; infrequently insulin, diltiazem, amiodarone, and nitroglycerin
* Telemetry monitor techs on unit; RNs are not required to read their own strips
* Equipment used includes CPAP, BiPAP, Vapotherm, and occasional tracheostomy care; no ventilators
* Charting system: Cerner
* Float rotation to other med/surg units if unit is overstaffed
* Block scheduling not guaranteed but made available whenever possible, especially for night shifts
* Scrubs of any color accepted
* Unit-specific orientation includes 12 hours of computer training and 12 hours of shadowing
* Required certifications: BLS (AHA); ACLS preferred
* BSN not required
* Must clock in and out at the facility

This acute care facility is a Level 2 Trauma Center offering a wide range of medical and surgical services. The Progressive Care Unit operates with 29 beds and provides specialized care for patients with complex medical needs. The unit is supported by telemetry monitor technicians and a collaborative care team, ensuring high-quality patient outcomes across a variety of diagnoses and surgical cases.
