Job Details:
* 12-hour shifts with variable weekend requirements based on vacancy
* No on-call responsibilities required
* Patient ratio of 1:1 ED RN with an 8-bed emergency department
* Average daily census of 60 patients
* Guaranteed 3 shifts per 13-week contract period
* May be required to float to all community hospital ER units between departments, units, and facilities as needed
* Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility - no local candidates accepted
* Maximum of 7 days of requested time off per contract
* Travel experience required
* Minimum 3 years of experience required; first-time travelers not accepted
* Epic charting system experience preferred
* Community hospital experience preferred
* Trauma Level I and Level II experience preferred
* Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC
* Required skills: Obtaining 12-lead EKG/ECG, starting and maintaining IVs, administering emergency medications
* Care for patients of all age groups including infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
* Treat a wide range of conditions including ACS, CVA/TIA, respiratory conditions, sepsis, diabetes-related emergencies, trauma and injuries, abdominal pain, behavioral health emergencies, neurological complaints, and common medical complaints such as hypertension, dehydration, UTI, flu, and other acute illnesses
* Operate specialized equipment including lift equipment, iSTAT, Zoll Monitor, Phillips EKG, BiPAP, and ventilator
* Work alongside a team of 1-2 providers, 1 MSI RN, 1 charge nurse, 1-2 paramedics, 1 radiology tech, and 1-2 patient access representatives
* Interdisciplinary support available from radiology and social services
* Staff take working lunches
* Pending licenses not accepted
Facility:
This single-floor community hospital features an emergency department that makes up half of the facility, with the remaining half dedicated to a med-surg and intermediate care unit. The 8-bed emergency department is equipped to handle a wide variety of patient conditions and complaints, operating with a 1:1 nurse-to-patient ratio and supported by a multidisciplinary team. The facility maintains modern medical equipment and offers interdisciplinary support services to ensure comprehensive patient care.
