Job Details:

* Deliver general nursing care utilizing the nursing process either directly or through appropriate delegation of duties to supervised staff members
* Assess patients' needs for care and initiate nursing care plans involving patients, families, and others as indicated
* Establish realistic patient goals, identify teaching needs, and address discharge concerns
* Participate in direct care and administration of prescribed medications and treatments including fluid and respiratory therapy treatments
* Demonstrate ability to perform technical skills and utilize equipment within areas of assignment
* Apply and enforce infection control policies and procedures
* Organize time, effort, and energy in rendering patient care while exercising judgment in establishing priorities
* Recognize and interpret symptoms, report patient conditions, and assist with or institute remedial measures for adverse developments
* Communicate significant information accurately to physicians and other health team members
* Take appropriate action in stressful, unusual, or emergency situations
* Initiate patient teaching by assessing patient and family knowledge of disease and establishing realistic objectives
* Assist with orientation and continued learning of new staff members
* Assume charge nurse responsibilities when assigned, promoting positive attitude and productivity among staff
* Coordinate shift activities of assigned staff to ensure continuity of nursing service
* Maintain good interpersonal relationships and assure confidentiality to preserve the integrity of the nursing staff
* Current registration as a licensed nurse in the State of South Dakota required
* Current CPR Certification required
* Must obtain ACLS and PALS Certification within six months of hire
* TNCC certification required for solo Emergency Room coverage within 6 months of hire
