Opportunity:
Clinical Laboratory Scientist
Job Details:
* Variable shifts with primarily swing shift scheduling
* 10-hour consecutive shifts
* On-call requirement: once per week from 3:30 AM to 5:30 AM
* EPIC experience required
* Perform a wide variety of clinical laboratory tests on biological specimens including chemistry, coagulation, hematology, special chemistry, urinalysis, blood bank, serology, immunology, bacteriology, microbiology, and referral testing
* Employ positive patient identification procedures to ensure specimen integrity throughout pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical testing
* Perform specimen collection including phlebotomy procedures, labeling, handling, preservation, processing, transportation, and storage
* Prioritize lab orders according to type including STAT, ASAP, routine, and timed studies
* Perform, evaluate, and document quality control checks
* Review and evaluate validity and accuracy of test results, correlating with diagnoses and flagging incompatible results
* Document and communicate test results, expediting all critical values
* Train and supervise trainees, laboratory assistants, and clerks as needed
* Adhere to HIPAA and other patient confidentiality guidelines and regulations
* At least two years of recent experience in field required
* Current BLS certification required
* Bachelor's Degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, biological sciences, chemical sciences, or allied health technologies required
* Valid Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license in California required
* Current certification from American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or National Credentialing Agency for Labs (NCA) preferred
