Med Surg/Tele 7th Floor Tower

Job Details:

* 13-week travel contract assignment
* Day shift patient ratio is 1:4 and night shift patient ratio is 1:5
* Every other weekend coverage required with a minimum of 4 weekend shifts per contract
* Floating between like units is required; travelers regularly float between various like units within their skill set
* No on-call required
* Minimum 2 years of experience required
* First-time travelers accepted
* Charge experience preferred
* Epic charting system experience required
* Required certification: BLS
* Compact license must be in hand at time of submission
* Care for post-surgical, medical-surgical, and medical-telemetry patients (adults and geriatrics)
* Medical telemetry patients are monitored by an on-site Central Monitoring Unit (CMU)
* Daily census of 29 patients across 29 beds
* Skills required include: accessing/managing ports, central line care/management, chest tubes, continuous bladder irrigation (CBI), epidural analgesia, feeding tube care and management, heparin protocols, isolation precautions/PPE, IV insulin protocols, managing cardiac drips, managing vasoactive drips, nasal cannula, oxygen administration, PCA, peripheral line care/management, PICC line management, surgical drains, telemetry remote monitoring, titration of insulin drips, tracheostomy care/management, use of rapid response/code teams, and wound care/wound vac
* Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, transportation, and unit secretary
* Must commit to working 3 of the 5 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
* Pre-approved time off limited to 7 days; requests beyond 7 days may require additional approval
* Local travelers with a permanent residence within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible for a travel contract

Facility:

This short-term acute care facility is a 325-staffed-bed hospital offering a wide range of medical and surgical services. The facility utilizes Epic for charting and supports an interdisciplinary care model with access to IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, and rapid response teams. The 7th floor Med Surg/Tele unit specializes in post-surgical and medical-telemetry patients, with telemetry monitoring supported by an on-site Central Monitoring Unit.
