Opportunity:
Neuro ICU Nights
Job Details:
* Night shift position in a Neuro Intensive Care Unit
* Block scheduling available
* Float required to all Adult ICUs as needed
* Every other weekend required with approximately 50% weekend shifts per contract
* Patient ratio is 2:1 for days, nights, and weekends
* Primarily caring for patients with strokes or neurological disorders in an ICU setting
* Responsible for delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
* Coordinate all nursing care for patients based on established clinical nursing practice standards
* Collaborate with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery
* Perform EVD management, ventilator management, and stroke management
* Manage arterial lines, central lines, PICC lines, and continuous IV sedation and paralytics
* Perform blood product administration, IV insulin protocols, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
* Care for patients with traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, and post-craniotomy/neurosurgery needs
* Conduct discharge planning and patient/family education
* Delegate tasks to unlicensed personnel in compliance with the Board of Nursing
* 2 years of experience preferred; first-time travel accepted
* 1 year of experience minimum required
* Trauma Level II experience preferred
* Epic charting system experience preferred
* Previous charge experience preferred
* Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS (must be in hand at time of submission)
* Valid RN license required at time of submission
* Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, respiratory services, phlebotomy, rapid response teams, and pharmacy
Facility:
This facility is a certified stroke center featuring a dedicated Neuro ICU with a 2:1 patient ratio. The unit specializes in caring for patients with strokes and neurological disorders and supports advanced procedures including CVC placement, rapid intubation, and EVD placement. Comprehensive interdisciplinary support is available, including IV teams, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, rapid response teams, and pharmacy services.
